It may still be winter, but if you’re in Melbourne you’ll want to leave the comfort and warmth of your blanket fort for the Melbourne Writers Festival (MFW). This year’s festival runs from the 20th of August to the 30th of August and embraces all forms of writing from Nobel prize winners to bloggers.
From the MWF website:
MWF is Melbourne’s annual, two-week celebration for writers, readers and thinkers. This August we celebrate 30 years of presenting the talent and ideas of hundreds of writers from Australia and around the world, through a vibrant program of storytelling, conversation and discussion, intellectual debate, educational programs, live performance, music and art events.
This year we have developed a program that responds to the people and places of Melbourne, inviting our audience to explore the hottest topical issues from politics and pop culture, travel and TV, to science and gender.
The Festival includes events for people of all ages and more than a third of the program is free. Our highly regarded Schools’ Program is Australia’s biggest literary festival for students.
You can plan your festival experience, find out what to do and where to go on the Melbourne Writers Festival website.
