If you write screenplays in any of the genres of sci-fi, horror and/or thriller, then you need to get on this competition faster than you can say Wilhelm scream.
Truant Pictures (based at Fox Studios, Sydney) is running the Truant Screenplay Competition to encourage and mentor new Australian voices working in the genre(s) of horror, science-fiction and/or thriller.
According to Film Freeway, Truant Pictures “are committed to discovering and helping to develop the next generation of Aussie genre talent.”
This is the first time this competition is running and it has a pretty outstanding prize.
There’s a sweet $5000 AUD cash prize for the winner and some additional extras including, according to the website: “a hot desk at Truant Pictures’ offices on the Fox Studios lot in Sydney for one week, written feedback from an established Australian filmmaker along with feedback from Truant Pictures’ Development Executives Greg Schmidt and Toby Nalbandian.”
They’re also throwing in a trophy!
As a bonus, the two runner-up finalists will also receive a $1000 AUD cash prize and written feedback from an established Australian filmmaker.
Entries close 12 August 2019.
You need to be a citizen of Australia or a permanent resident and aged 18 years or over to enter.
