Are you an unpublished writer just starting out and wanting some capital to help build your profile? Well, writer Matthew Loomis wants to give you it, as part of his New Writer Scholarship. “Matthew who?” you say. No, you probably haven’t heard of him – he is simply a blogger and copywriter in the US who remembers how hard it can be for emerging writers and has decided to ‘pay it forward’ by helping someone out!
Essentially, he wants to make life just that little bit easier for one lucky writer – with the sort of boost he wished he’d had when he started out.
This is the gist from his website:
Are you a student with ambitions to become a writer? Or perhaps you’re more advanced in age yet still dream about sharing your writing passion with others.
Whatever your story, this opportunity could be your big break. We’re looking for a talented writer to support through the New Writer Scholarship 2015. The scholarship award is $4,000.
Each participant can submit only one written work. Your submitted work (Short story/Poem/Blog post/Any written material you are proud of) cannot be published earlier as part of a printed book (a “book” is defined as having an ISBN).
As the promotional material suggests, the winner can use the money for anything from buying a new computer to publishing an eBook, getting coaching or building a website. (Perhaps even a handful of AWC courses!)
The search is open to anyone internationally (submissions in English only though) and you have until 29 November 2015 to submit your work using the form on the site. The winner will be announced on December 23, 2015.
