We love hearing from our students no matter what they have to say, but when we hear of a student being published, we just want to shout it from the rooftops! We’re a little scared of heights, so we’ll go with a blog post instead.
Christine says:
I finished an online Creative Writing Course recently with Pamela Freeman, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Fiction seemed like an impossible dream but I enrolled in the course because I wanted the challenge of doing something I didn’t think I could do, and hoped it would help me become more disciplined as a writer generally. Pamela described one of my pieces as ‘terrific’. I know she wasn’t saying I was a terrific writer but she was saying I had written a terrific piece. It gave me such a boost of confidence.
At about that time my local library was running a Short Story Competition on the theme of ‘Friendship’ which I decided to enter. My story was Highly Commended. Not bad for someone who had never written a piece of fiction apart from the exercises for your course and stories I wrote as a child, and it was 4,500 words!
Thanks AWC!
